I mean do they need themed centers I swap out every two weeks? Well, maybe not but themed centers are FUN and engaging! Then we go back to the essential needs. However, in the teaching world basic to me equals to SANITY! As teachers it’s really hard to balance between what our kids NEED and what they NEED. Oftentimes, when we think about the word basic we think of something lacking substance or that it’s missing something. Then, it popped in my head, “Hey I bet there are other busy teachers that would love a set of SIMPLE centers, too!” I wanted to offer her centers that were outright SIMPLE. Then, there’s the question, “To theme or not to them?” My sister and I asked ourselves this EXACT question before the school year started! She is homeschooling this year and decided to not have a “themed” year therefore her centers really didn’t need to be themed. Swapping centers out is a lot of fun but equally stressful! We have so many levels to cover. I guess you could say I fall somewhere between the two. “AHH! Has it really already been two weeks? I wonder if the kids will mind using the pumpkin centers in December?” I mean it takes a few hours, a cramped hand, 2 reams of cardstock and 1 ink cartridge but hey it’s okay!” This game is super fun and kindergarten students really love playing it.Let’s tackle those kindergarten centers! It’s time to swap out your centers and you either respond in one of two ways: The aim of the game is to get to the other end of the line. When they meet, they should play rock, scissors, paper and losing student should sit down. Each student should jump forward to the next flashcard and then say the word out loud. The losing student must sit down, and a new student then comes and stands at the end of the line of flashcards. The winning student gets to stay where they are. When they meet, the two children should play rock, scissors, paper. The two students should continue doing that until they meet in the middle of the line of flashcards. Next, the two students should jump forward again and land on the next flashcard and say that word out loud. The kids should then jump forward and land on the first flashcard and say that word out loud. Next, place one student at one end of the line of flashcards and another student at the other end of the line. To play this game, place 6 to 8 flashcards in a line on the floor. If the wolf catches one of the students, then that student becomes the new wolf and the game can start again. Once the students are close to the wolf, the wolf can answer ‘It’s dinner time!” and then turn around and chase the students. Wolf?” and then take steps forward after the wolf has answered. Next, the students should ask again “What time is it Mr. For example, if the wolf said “It’s three o’clock.”, then students should move forward 3 steps. The students should then take steps forward corresponding to the time that the wolf answered. Wolf?’ and the wolf should answer with a time between 1 and 12 o’clock. Next, the students should shout out ‘What time is it Mr. The rest of the class should stand at the other end of the classroom / playground. The ‘wolf’ must face away from the other students and close their eyes. To play this game, choose one student to be the ‘wolf’. This next kindergarten game is best played outside or in a room with lots of space for the kids to run around.

Here’s a link to the episodes in the Steven universe wikia: Here’s a link to the list of episodes in wikipedia: Note: Some of these episodes aren´t that important but contain good foreshadowing and development for future episodes, that’s why i include them on the list. If you are just starting to watch the series: So i have been thinking of making a list for people who are starting to watch the series or Steven universe fans who want to rewatch an specific arc.įirst I’m going to make a list of the episodes that are considered important to watch the series in order and then make lists about characters arcs or episodes with a specific theme. The length of the regeneration process can range from minutes to weeks, but a "rushed" regeneration can suffer from physical deformities (such as Amethyst in "Reformed").Guide for watching Steven universe episodes (Including Future) Regeneration is special in that Gems can make permanent changes to their physical form while regenerating. If a Gem's physical form is badly injured, they will retreat into their gemstone to regenerate. The only way to permanently destroy or "kill" a Gem is to destroy their gemstone. Gems are functionally immortal and do not require food or sleep (although Gems can still eat and sleep if they so desire). All Gems with their own weapon have the ability to direct energy through their weapons, such as Garnet using her gauntlets to charge Greg's van, Pearl firing an energy blast from the tip of her spear, and Amethyst sending bursts of energy through her whip or whips. Lapis Lazuli has no true weapon but instead possesses hydrokinesis. Similar to this is Pearl's Psammokinesis. Gems have numerous abilities, which can vary from Gem to Gem, including weapon summoning, fusion, the power to 'store' material in their gemstones, and bubble creation. All Gems are inherently sexless and the species lacks sexual dimorphism, although Gems' physical forms typically have characteristics associated with human femininity, with the only exception thus far being Steven, due to his half-human parentage. Gems' physical forms are projections from their gemstone, and Gems may change their physical form at will (although shapeshifting is not permanent and Gems will return to their "default" form eventually), with their only constant feature being their gemstone and color palette. Gems as a species are characterized by the gemstone each Gem has embedded somewhere on their bodies, which seems to be analogous to a brain or CPU. How to create a label (like a group) in Gmail contacts If you want to add that contact to the group, just check the box. Now, when you go to your contacts and hover over a contact's profile image, it'll turn into a checkbox. To create a labeled group, go to the "labels" tab on the left sidebar menu, and click "create label" - then name it whatever you want. You can also create groups of contacts you frequently email - like your team at work, your family members, besties, and so on. Gmail will clean up duplicates for you, so they don't clutter up your contacts list, but you can find those duplicates here. Next, you can check for any duplicate contacts in the "duplicates" tab. Other ways to manage Gmail contacts - "frequently contacted" and "duplicates" Frequently contacted and duplicatesįirst, you can see the people you email the most frequently, under the "frequently contacted" tab on the left sidebar menu. There's a lot more you can do on the contacts page. Step 5: Explore what else you can do with your contacts Note: after you've added some new contacts this way, you might have to refresh your browser for those contacts to show up. If you've already added that person to your contacts, you'll see "Edit Contact" instead of "Add to Contacts." Then, click on "add to contacts" and voilà - you'll be taken to that same create contact screen (see above). Simply hover your cursor over the email address in your inbox, and wait for the box to pop up, like below: A second way to create a new contact in Gmail - hover over the email address Then click "save," and there you go! New contact created.īut there is another, super easy way to create a contact - if you already have an email from the person. You can fill out as much or as little as you like - a name and email are usually quite helpful. When you create a new contact with that button, it'll ask you for some info to complete the contact entry. The first way to create a contact, which you'll use if you haven't yet emailed the person you want to add, is by clicking the "create contact" button: One way to create new contacts in Gmail - click the "create contact" button You can create a new contact in a couple ways. If you don't yet have any contacts, or want to add new contacts, this is also the place for you. More on what you can do with them below (in Step 5). If you already have a bunch of contacts, this is where they'll be. Once you've clicked the blue "contacts" icon, you'll be brought to this screen (you may or may not have more than one contact - or you may not have any yet): Gmail's contacts page Your Gmail apps Step 3: Click that contact icon and manage your contacts If you don't see a contacts app, click "more" at the bottom and add it. The contacts app might not be at the top, but you can drag the apps around into any arrangement you like. In the upper right corner you'll see a square made up of nine dots (those are your apps): Welcome to Gmail :) Step 2: Open your appsĬlick on that square, and you'll see a dropdown menu containing all your available apps. Go to your Gmail account and look at the home page. How to manage your contacts (check for duplicates, create labels/groups).How to get into Gmail and find your contacts. In this step-by-step guide, we'll go over: Fear not - they're easy to find once you know where to look. While this isn’t a major update, it entirely changes the way you interact with Google Contact and your sync settings. If you're still getting used to the new Gmail, you might be wondering where your contacts went. Also, keep in mind that there’s a proper internet connection as it is unclear what can happen if sync fails due to poor network connectivity. You just need to ensure that your contacts are available on. There you will find the option to interact with the various sync options. Just visit your device Settings and access your Google Account from the Accounts menu. You will be able to gain access to your contacts as soon as you manually switch on the sync toggle for Google Contacts. Google, in the updated support page, states, “Turning off sync with Google Contacts sync will now remove the previously synced contacts from your Android phone.” This comes in effect to Google Play Services 23.20 update. In case the sync is turned off, the contacts added later will still be visible even though they are not synced to the cloud.īut now, if the sync is turned off, the entire contact list can disappear. Contact syncing is a handy feature on Android, which when enabled, can automatically upload new contacts to the cloud whenever a phone is changed.
We couldn’t spot this shapewear underneath a dress or a top, but we noticed the linings of the full-coverage bottoms peek through when worn with leggings or tight pants. For our small chests, we noticed that the straps created a bit of a lift, giving our girls a nice look without the need to turn to push-up bras. We snapped ourselves in with the crotch closure (which never rode up uncomfortably), and at the end of the day, it simply rolled right off once we unsnapped the bottom. Pulling the shapewear on and off also felt like a breeze. We still consider this to be a level two compression, though, because it does not fully alter your shape, but it feels firmer than a level one. Much like the Skims option, it doesn’t feel too restrictive, but it does come with stronger compression in the midsection accentuating our curves and smoothing our tummy a little more. The ultra-soft cotton and elastane blend truly feels like a second skin, so much so that we felt like we could easily sleep in it and wake up with no markings. What We Don’t Love: While the top portion is impossible to spot under clothes, you can see the seams of the bottoms if worn with leggings or very tight pants.Įverything about the Wolford 3W Stretch-Cotton Bodysuit impressed us from the stretch to the feel to the aesthetics. What We Love: It has a barely-there effect that’s comfortable enough to sleep in. Size: XXS-5XL | Colors: 10 | Material: Sherica, nylon, spandex | Compression Level: 2 Keep this in mind when choosing what size you think would fit you best. Of course, it is supposed to fit tightly, due to the compression, it wouldn’t even slide on the plus-size editor who tested it out. The straight sizes fit true-to-size, but it runs small once it reaches past an XL, especially for plus-size folks with particularly wide hips. However, we did notice that it doesn’t fit plus-size women particularly well. Once finished, we did have to perform a little wiggle dance in order to get back into the compressing shapewear - but it just took some shimming and adjusting, then we were good to go again. The extremely lightweight material disappears under any clothes, even form-fitting ones, so we never have to worry about panty lines peeking through any skinny jeans or bodycon dresses.ĭuring our dash to the restroom, we were relieved to find clasps at the crotch that allowed us to get to our business quicker. The fabric is so kind on our skin, due to its soft touch, that it’s easy to forget it’s even on. We wouldn’t turn to this bodysuit for exaggerated effects - it won’t take inches off your waist - but it does lightly cinch in our waist, give our chests a gentle push, and our bottoms a sweet little plump. We’ve discussed this sculpting bodysuit many times in the past, even naming it the best shapewear that Skims has to offer, which, for a shapewear-heavy brand, that’s a tough feat.Īt a compression level of two, which describes how compressive the garment is, and goes up to level three (so, basically, this one has mid-range compression), the bodysuit smoothes the skin, without feeling too tight or sacrificing comfort. What We Don’t Love: The plus sizes don’t fit true to size. What We Love: The lightweight fabric is nearly invisible underneath other clothes. To see which reigned over the others, see our final selects of best shapewear, according to our reviews. We even took note of how easy it was to use the restroom, as not all options come with an easy access clasp at the bottom (and maneuvering in and out of a tight bodysuit at a public restroom is never fun). We paid close attention to how challenging it was to slip in and out, how compressing the garment was, and of course, how it made our bodies look and feel. Stylist Lara Betiku turns to shapewear for herself and her clients not to alter the appearance of her body, but “mainly to smooth and enhance” her “natural shape.” So to give our delicious curves some enrichment, we set out to find the best shapewear you can buy, trying on 30 different pieces across 22 InStyle staffers with different heights and body types. But navigating the market - so many choices! - can be a challenge for sure. We know that shapewear is never a necessity, but there’s something about wearing it underneath our clothes, especially to formal events, that just dials the confidence-meter up a few notches. He emphatically stated in his autobiography, “I was born with music inside me. While still sighted, Charles received informal piano lessons from a friend, but nonetheless thought that music was a part of his genes. It was after a performance and he came out of his dressing room and someone led him over to me.” Speaking to Uncut magazine in 2005, Wonder said, “It was only when I was 11 and I recorded Tribute To Uncle Ray that I found out he was blind. Yet, amazingly, Wonder claimed he initially had no idea that Charles shared a common disability. Born Steveland Judkins on May 13, 1950, some 20 years Charles’ junior, he repeatedly claimed that Charles, dubbed ‘the blind genius’, was his musical idol, and was later decorated with that title as well. Observing his innate ability to catch on to musical sounds, she bought him a piano and a harmonica, and he quickly learnt both instruments. Wonder’s early beginnings also saw him receiving worthwhile assistance of another sort from his mother. Sign up for The Gleaner’s morning and evening newsletters. Writing in his autobiography, Charles, who would have celebrated his 89th birthday last Monday, said: “When the doctors told her (his mother) that I was gradually losing my sight and that I wasn’t going to be any better, she started helping me deal with it by showing me how to get around, how to find things, and that made it a little bit easier to deal with.” This perhaps explains the rapid acquisition of musical competence by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, arguably the most outstanding blind performers in the history of popular music, both excelling as vocalists and multi-instrumentalists.Ĭharles became fully blinded by age seven, after suffering from glaucoma, while Wonder reportedly lost his sight shortly after birth. This greater focus on auditory input makes the brain develop in a different way,” the professor explained. “In blind children, the area of the brain involved in sight is not being used, but others, including those used for hearing, become much more alert and important. Professor Adam Ackelford, a musical research fellow at the Institute of Education in London, believes that the childhood experience presents a better opportunity for success. However, the incidence of outstanding entertainers like Charles and Wonder losing their sight in childhood years or at birth is more common, compared to those who suffer the disability at adulthood. Whether or not this was the compelling force behind the extraordinary success of Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles is still open to debate. Many music aficionados subscribe to the theory that when one sense is impaired, the others develop at a faster rate, and this may be a contributing factor. Blindness has oftentimes been linked to the success of recording artistes in popular music. It's corruption at its finest over there. "People get fined all the time for disobeying ordinances. Here’s how things look across dialects: Functionįor a more concrete example of when you’d use a date truncation function, imagine we have a table of order where each row represents an order, and each order has a date. The prototype function here is DATE_TRUNC(), which truncates your date to a lower level of specificity, like month or year. Date roundingĭate rounding lets you lower the specificity of your date this is useful for aggregations and looking at trends over time. There’s a whole “language” of string formatting arguments that developers need to frantically search Google for every time they use them. SELECT EXTRACT(EPOCH FROM TIMESTAMP ' 20:38:40') Here’s how we’d use these functions in Postgres, with expected inputs and outputs: #Convert unix time to date format TIMESTAMP 'epoch' + your_timestamp_column * INTERVAL '1 second' Here’s how these different conversion functions look across major SQL dialects: Function A typical unix timestamp might look like this: 1284352323. Unix time (which is also called epochs time) is kind of funky: it corresponds to the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1st, 1970. This function is usually used to format dates in specific ways as strings, so the arguments are the important part. FORMAT_DATE() – convert a date into a string.Sometimes you’ll need to specify what format the string is in through the function arguments. TO_DATE() – convert a string to a date format.TO_UNIXTIME() – convert a regular date format into a unix time date.FROM_UNIXTIME() – convert a unix time date into a normal date.Let’s go! Formattingĭates never seem to be in the format you want them to be in.Ĭomputers interpret dates in all different formats, from unixtime to strings and timestamps, and they’re usually not friendly to each other. In general, we’ll use “date” in this tutorial but the distinction isn’t super important. A TIMESTAMP is just a DATE with an additional two levels of precision: fractional seconds and fractional seconds with time zones. Something that often gets confusing is the difference between DATE and TIMESTAMP.
